In Memory of Dr. Rick Kalister, classmate of GL 77. (Knoxville, Tennessee)

I am sad to report that our friend and classmate Rick Kalister, passed away on Sunday, June 28, 2015. Rick, his wife Betty, and daughter Nicole, were involved in a tragic accident near Boston, MA.

Rick was one of those people that touched many lives and I am proud to call him a friend. Rick transferred from NJ to Texas during our junior high school year. Rick was a police officer before becoming a United States Air Force Fighter Pilot. Rick flew F-15E fighter jets for eight years. After leaving the USAF, he went to medical school and became an Emergency Room physician. Rick saved many lives as an ER doctor and was also a volunteer for his local Sheriff’s Department. Rick was a devoted family man and a big proponent of general aviation and personal flying. Rick was an extremely focused pilot who was dedicated to general aviation safety. I had the honor of flying with Rick in 2012.

Rick, you will be greatly missed and I consider you one of the true heroes that I have ever known. God bless your family and your surviving daughter.

I recognize some names there. Brian is the man, seems like he is a lot of the glue to keep people in touch. great web site, my hats off the class of 77 or 78 or whoever did it. class of 76 is a little slow and late. hell our 20 year anniversary was 4 or 5 years late.

The Highlander Hoop Coaches Clinic... an absolute classic! Wish I was there. The pics on your site bring back many memories.

Some of my fondest memories include the bball program and the full court bball struggles during the summers outdoor courts at Columbia. ...

Then the Fab Five ... Krueger, Bubrick, Bailey, Coccia, Billings ..  and Stuedle, DiFonzo, etc. ...Classic ....vintage and stellar union county old school bball ........

The Bianchi/Britt work ethic lives on ... because the lessons are timeless ... esp. the little guy who's goal was to be part of the dream team but it wasn't meant to be. lol....

Would be great to visit with many of you again... maybe even some pick up games ... or at least golf.  ...lol Best Regards,  Steve

Well, what a surprise, I just got an email about this site and the reunion - I was class of 1978, but I see lots of names I kow.  Sounds like a fun time will be had by all that attend.  I'm not much into reunions - heck I can't remember what I did yesterday sometimes!  But that's what happens when you get old like us.  Have a great time!

Greetings class of 77! I don't know how much traffic this guest book gets, but for what it's worth...my two cents. First of all, you guys really know how to keep it together! The website is awesome, and I've  thoroughly enjoyed looking through the photo albums and other links. Fantastic job. I wish my class was as active...the first and last reunion I attended was my 10th. Anyway, if anyone would like to get in touch, I'd be honored. J. Bubrick has been keeping me posted on a big event being put together for Sept. 08 down the shore. Hopefully it will be a great success.

be well,

Seems everyone has returned to the day-to-day rigors of life.  The reunion now becoming a bit of a distant memory.   Anyone in for generating a little dialog on some current events?  No, not the election, that still has way too much time left.  Let's go for March Madness or how about the time honored tradition of opening day for Major League Baseball?

I doubt anyone remembers I moved to BH from Kansas City, KS in 1968.  As a true loyalist to the teams I first watched, I am sitting here watching my Oakland A's (the KC A's when I lived there) play game 2 of their 162 game season.  Probably more exciting though is the upcoming sweet 16 which includes the Kansas Jayhawks (my brother's alma mater).  I'd like to think they have a good shot to go all the way to the final four but if recent history is any indicator they will get in a close game and miss critical free throws down the stretch thus breaking our hearts once again.  My bet is that no one will be stopping former KU coach Roy Williams' North Carolina Tar heels.  Anyone want to weigh in?

BTW, I am frequently in NJ and would love to grab a beer or two with anyone who might be interested.  All my contact info is available at www.oceanwireless.net.

Cheers.

To Everyone whom has signed the guestbook, from the R.30 platinum team we gratefully thank you for sharing what a wonderful extravaganza R.30 was. This just goes to show what a great group of kids we were, which is why the toast Sat Night was " to our younger Selves" for their dedication and spirit to acheiving our goals. There is so much enthusiasm amoungst our class, that there are several events taking form for more opportunities to get together. So far there is talk about an R32.5 (50th b-day) party for us all - then of course there is the R35th, which we will do somewhere along the lines of R.30. Let us know what your thinking, use the Reunion blog, the message board, or email to this posting. You can vote on the Poll Page as well....Regards Brian Skelton (brian@skeltoncpa.com)

On the heels of an incredibly successful reunion and the lack of any serious wagers at the Highlander golf classic...How about a friendly wager on this little series of games coming up this week? Another country heard from. Looks like I'm the last of the Dream Team to post my feelings of gratitude and amazement at everyone who made the effort to come to R30 and made it the success it was. I am still reeling from sentimentality -- does anyone else feel the ground-swell of love going around?? This event was life altering for me. I was always overly dramatic and I'm not stopping now -- working with the Team was one of the best things to have happened to me in years. To think that Brian and I were in every class together Grades 1-3 at Woodruff School, that Robyn and I directed a show together senior year (and both gave the graduation speeches, LOL), that Yvonne and I sat together at lunch every day sophomore year, that Cindy and I almost got into major trouble together in a second grade "ice incident" (feel free to ask for more information....), that Debbie and I were friends since we were five years old and that JB kept us all laughing during this entire experience -- thank you all. And each and every one of you who were in attendance have played a role in my life somehow -- some on a small scale, some huge -- and I believe we are who we are today because of how each of us shaped each other's lives. I'm still smiling. I don't plan on stopping anytime soon. Love always and stay in touch!!!! Lu Ann (a.k.a. Luey, LuLu, LuLee, endless....)

Keep posting the pictures so we can all enjoy them. Brian, Robyn, Yvonne, Debbie, LuAnne and the whole Reunion Team, collectively, did a great job of putting everything together and tracking so many of us down. Just a side note. I wish the Rutgers/USF football game was Saturday night. Could've high-fived the after-party partiers after Rutgers held off #2 USF to win in Pissssssssscataway (that was unfair the way New York sportscasters use to pronounce Piscataway). In any event, to all Scarlet Knight fans or Rutgers Class of '81 people, CONGRATULATIONS! That was an entire week for school spirit. A note to Russ Hunchar and Scott Nelson: did I break 140 using the 3 wood? Great fun nonetheless. Have a great week everybody!

Looking back at all the pictures, I can't believe how many of you I didn't get to chat with. I also missed several of my friends from my Mountain Park days. I think Hamilton Terrace was better represented in the grade school photo. It sure would be wonderful to see more of you at our next reunion or hear from you via the website. To All: In a word: Priceless... I still haven't quite come down from my R.30 high. Thank you so much to the Reunion Committee for all of the time you gave to make our reunion such a success. It was so wonderful to be able to rekindle those friendships that even 30 years couldn't break and to be given the opportunity to connect with some that I did not have the pleasure of knowing in GL. Thank you to Brian for being so diligent in his emails. If not for them, I might have missed out on this special event. As the time seemed so short and passed by so fast, I eagerly look forward to seeing you all at the next reunion and with the hope of being able to see those that I may have missed or who were unable to attend. (Maureen P, Donna B, Carol H and Al L, I missed ya's!) Until next time... Be Safe, Healthy and Happy... Love to all, Karen

To say that the reunion was fantastic is almost an understatement. My wife and I had a blast and a half! All expectations were surpassed which says alot about the whole event. It really was amazing to see so many familiar faces but like everyone said- the time flew too fast! The fact that there were so many people attending proves that the class of '77 loves a party. The spirit and warmth felt from everyone and everything R30 weekend will stay with me for a lifetime. What an amazing time that unfortunately flew by -- and for those I missed catching up with and those that couldn't make it to R30, will catch you at the next one soon, k? As for the planning, all the fun, jeer, searching, strategizing, and collaboration w/ Brian, Robyn, LuAnn, Debbie, Cindy, and JB during the planning leading up to last weekend was second to none -- would do it all over again in a heart-beat. Thanks to all for your help in finding people (Alan P, you rock), spreading the word, and encouraging others to attend, you all were instrumental in the extraordinary turnout of such a great group of GLers. Until next time....your friend always, Yvonne

For those of you who did not attend R.30 and are thinking about R.35, read these genuine faux testimonials from more satisfied R.30 attendees!! 1. "I haven't bathed since Pub Night! Just can't get myself to wash away the good feeling!" - John Bubrick 2. "I laughed. I cried. I lost 20 pounds." - anonymous 3. "Wow!. What a party! And I finally lost my virginity!!" - Sil Coccia 4. "I had such a great time! I'm going to capture R.30's essence in my next painting. Look for it between the clouds!!" - Lynn Varecka Sanguedolce 5. "It was just like therapy, but better! Now I don't have to attend the Tony Robbins expo next month!!" - Pete Lie 6. "What a blast!! And I'm in every picture!" - LuAnne Vispoli and Peggy Duhaime - said simultaneously while being photographed. Brian, Robyn, Yvonne, Lu, Debbie, Cindy, John and anyone else involved, you folks managed to pull off a unique, once-in-a-lifetime experience that will never be forgotten. From the bottom of my still-alcohol-infused heart, thank you!! Only wish I had more time to talk/laugh/introduce myself to more classmates. Oh well, there's always next time...

In response to J. Bubrick's posting, I noticed many things. Primarily that it takes me days to recover now from staying up all hours and drinking. On the upside, it was totally worth it. I also noticed how much I like people more now as adults and can't wait to see all of you again. Even though all of us may not have been close 30 years ago we were all part of one great big whole and it was so incredible to come together. I also noticed (and know several others have as well) that I am still thinking about last weekend which is a sure sign of a great time. Finally please everyone email me your preferred contact info, including email, home address and phone number. I am going to put together a booklet of some sort and will make it easily available to everyone that wants it. We all seem to want to keep in touch! Robyn

At R.30, did you notice? 1.How spectacular the ladies of the Class of 1977 looked? 2.How many times Dante Coccia lost his Blackberry? 3.How many times Gorgeous George Kostakis uses his 3 Wood? 4.How small Scott Bailey Nelson got? 5.How early the Dolce Pub closed? 6.How “cool” your unknown classmates got in thirty brief years? 7.How good Vinny’s hair looked? 8.How little dancing rhythm and courage our class has? 9.How good the food was at Dolce? 10.How creepy the James Brown trophy is? 11.How good a dancer Joey D was? 12.How many photos Luann and Peggy were in? 13.How a children’s medium tee shirt looks on Willie Baumann? 14.How many classmates you can jam into a Dolce suite at midnight on Saturday night? 15.How inane and stupid the R.30 Collectible Trading Cards were? What did you notice at R.30?

We all appreciate the effort and realize how much work it was. I also have to thank you for reuniting me with so many friends I thought I would never see again. It was so touching, seeing all those familiar faces. That’s really a beautiful part of the whole thing – seeing how a friendship holds up after 20 or 30 years. The emails are flying around! It was such a pleasure to see all our classmates from GL class of 1977. I am sorry that i did not have more time to talk more with everyone. The time just flew by much too fast. We will have to start sooner and end later next time. Our class was so happy to see everyone that we are considering planning an R32.5 and the R.35. The planning team needs to hear from you on what we should consider. I have placed a poll you can vote on the Site Poll tab on what we have up there so far as suggestions. Tell us what you think! Thanks again for attending, and making the R.30 main event one for the record books. We were known at GL for our class spirit, our dedication to making things happen, and we were one of the most enterprising classes at GL, deriving more revenue for our class than any others before us. We are high spirited first class friendly people whom know how to have a grand time with friends, old and new. We are a hard act to follow, and we grown up to be a real class act. I personally cant say enough about what a pleasure it was to spend the weekend with you all. I look forward to another opportunity real soon and please do stay in touch. Brian Skelton

Dear friends, What a wonderful time we had. My husband was so impressed at how nice everyone was. The Class of 1977 was and is a fantastic group of smart, funny, great people. I cannot get over what a wonderful job the organizers did - Luann, Robyn, Yvonne, Brian, Debbie, others -- It was a beautiful event, and it meant a lot to me to be a part of it. Best wishes to you all - I hope some of you will e-mail me to let me know how you are doing. It was great to reconnect! - Ilana

I cannot begin to express how much this reunion has meant to me. To find my friends, whom had been lost from me for so long, was the most amazing gift. The love I felt this night is more than I have felt in a long, long time. I am still recovering from the emotion of it all. Thank you so much Brian, Yvonne, Robin, Cindy, Luann, Debbie, John & Sill for putting your hearts into making this dream happen. Love, Rona

To all the classmates who were able to attend all or part of this reunion- what a fantastic group of people! I enjoyed reliving old times and meeting some of you for the first time. Thank you for attending, I think the factual information that Brian (Mr.CPA) provided during the speech shows that we are a remarkable class (Bri -maybe you can post that information here for all to see). For all the Classmates who could not attend- May I say you were truly missed, please keep R35 in mind and check out the pictures from this website. GL Class of 1977 ~ EXTRAORDINARY!!!!

Absolutely a fantastic week-end of friendships (some new) and memories (many renewed). Once again, tremendous thanks to Brian, Yvonne, Lu Ann, Debbie and any others that sacrificed family time to make the event planning so easy, as well as exciting. Even the weatherman cooperated with our reunion by giving us clear skies for the golf match Saturday. All in all Friday and Saturday were filled with warmth, cordiality and school spirit, surpassing even the level of our senior spring semester. Speaking for all those who traveled from out of state, IT WAS WORTH THE TRIP!!!!!!!!!!! Happy Holidays to All.

Teri Massa found me and it has been wonderful to read messages from many long-lost classmates. Unfortunately, I won't be able to attend the reunion because I will be flying to China on Oct 13. I have got my own consulting practice after spending many years at McKinsey where I was a partner in the Cleveland/Pittsburgh office. Hi all you GL '77 grads I am having a hard time trying to change my plans so as of now have to say no to the reunion. Sounds like a great time to see old friends. I can't believe it has been 30 years. I still act like a high schooler most of the time?! I live in South Jersey and work at Rowan University, Residence Life Office, supervising all of the RAs and dorm directors. Never a dull moment. I'm single but enjoying a good life in a nice rancher, and yes there are still horses and cows in South Jersey. Well, hope you all enjoy the great times and memories of our high school year. I have to say those 4 years were so much fun and always great memories for me. If I can change my plans, I hope to be there but no there needs to be a rsvp. ENJOY and hope everyone is well!! Friday night at pub night. Very casual. It is a sports bar kind of place. Pool tables, tvs etc. Jeans are perfect. Saturday night is traditional semi formal clothing, cocktail dresses or dressy pants if you are more comfortable. Men, suits are optional but definitley a jacket which will most likely be removed for the dance contest! See you all soon! Robyn

So sorry that I'm going to be unable to attend the reunion. I was really hoping I could rearrange my schedule so that I would be able to attend but unfortunately that has proven to be impossible. As I told Robyn, bored with the status quo I decided a year ago to move to upstate New York and finish my bachelors in criminal justice at the University at Albany and then off to law school for me next year. There are times when it gets to be a little to much but my husband and my kids (28,19 and 15) are my biggest cheerleaders. I was really looking forward to seeing everyone again and catching up. I can't believe 30 years has gone by so quickly. Hopefully by the time the next one rolls around I'll be able to attend. I hope you all have a great time and that some pics are posted on this site so that we can all see how much fun you guys had. I'll see you all at the next one.

We are closing in on the payment deadline of October 1st. I have not been able to find any info on the whereabouts of these folks on the missing list: Ron Anderson, Patty Day, John Fernandez, Anthony Ferrera, Maureen Fulcher, Bill Giordano, Donna Judge, Carolyn King, Bob Layman, Jane MacIntyre, Donna Murphy, Maureen Palmer, Noah Rice, Paul Shellman, Diane Stewart, Doreen Uhl and Joyce Wilson. Everyone else on that list I have left messages with either our classmate, their parents, a sibling or my best guess. If anyone out there wants to try to reach out to someone on the missing list, let me know and I'll forward the info and numbers I have. Maybe a call from a closer friend will spark a response. I also have some info on people who are not on any list including folks who were with us at least through sophomore year but moved before graduating from GL. Please help find your old friends. We don't want anyone not to know about this incredible extravaganza.

Greetings GL class of '77...well, here we are (30) years post GL. I have to admit, this will be my first reunion, ever! My lovely wife of (24) years (not my 24 year old wife) Theresa, is a serial high school reunion attendee. In fact, she is actually more excited about attending my reunion than I am! Seriously, after I graduated from GL, met my future wife at college, and thereafter I lost track of everybody. We reside in Bridgewater NJ with our two beautiful daughters, Jessica, (19), who is a sophomore at Rutgers Univ., and Christina, (6½) is a first grader (yes, same wife). Of course, I look somewhat different now from my senior year portrait; my hair is shorter! Thanks to Brian, Yvonne, Robyn and Alan P. for organizing what looks to be an exciting time for all who can attend! I will be reviewing my year book(s) thoroughly in order to refresh myself my high school memories. Looking forward to seeing everybody in October! Dan Aulisio daulisio@optonline.net

I dug out the yearbook last night and remember so many of you! WOW! It is like a time machine trip here and I am out in orbit over it! LOL! I think I am going to make it for the Saturday line-up....GL halls and dinner...I am not sure about Friday night yet, though...I have 3 dogs, 7 cats and 3 birds here to take care of. I am living in upstate New York about 100 miles away from GL. I want to see you all and get to know you all this time around! I have such warm feelings for the entire graduating class of 1977, so make a HUGE effort to be there, everyone! This is BIG! Hello to everyone from the class of 1977! After moving to the Pittsburgh area 1 month after graduation, I didn't think I would be in touch again..ever... until somehow I was tracked down by Alan Prohaska. I'm sorry I will miss the reunion (late notice at this point) but I am going to enjoy catching up on everyone's lives a bit on these pages. As for myself, I have been married to Kevin for 24 years and have 3 children: Rachel, 22, Sharon, 21 and Ben, 12. I have done a variety of things, including being a free-lance writer for about 15 years (those experiences on the school newspaper really did indicate something...) Recently, I have been a coordinator for a foreign student exchange program and I will soon be working as an ESL specialist for our area (tutoring elementary kids who are learning English as a second language.) I also plan on going to Cambodia next summer on a missions trip- to volunteer at an English camp run by our church's denomination. I look forward to reading up on many of you and maybe hearing from a few of you. Have an awesome reunion! Janet

Hey ya'll from N.C. I was so looking forward to seeing everyone again, but things have come up and I will not beable to attend. My husband keeps very busy working for DomTar (Weyerhaeuser) and also preaches. Yes I am a preachers wife, imagine that. I have 3 children T.C. 23, Stephanie 21,and Nathan 18, almost an empty nest. Have fun and take care. Laurel

Class of 1977... You always had a lot of spirit and we always had a lot of fun rooting for you at the games and celebrating with you at the parties! I may crash the pub if that is okay...(I think my gang used to do that sort of thing quite often!) Have a great weekend! All the Best, Talya

I am sorry that I cannot make it. It looks so well organized & fun! I live too far away & it costs too much right now. With Duane losing his job & two kids in college, the extra funds just don't stretch that far. One of these days the girls will be OUT of college so I am hopeful that sometime in the future I'll be able to actually do some of this kind of thing! The last one I was moving to AZ on the day of the reunion & the 10 year I did attend! Maybe if there is a 40th I can actually do that one!Have fun all! Pam

GL Class of 1977 - Hey - this is going to be one hell of an event, once in a lifetime, check the attending list, where else in the world are we going to gather so many of our classmates since the day we all graduated? Thinking of missing this one, you will regret it for the rest of your life. This is the big event and we dont see another one of this magnitude occuring again for our class. So if your not sure, take a moment and really give it some consideration. Let us know if we can be of assistance. You do not want to miss this Reunion 30.
